Privacy Policy
- Effective:
- Last updated:
This policy explains what SimplerChat stores, who can see it, which AI and service providers process it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your personal chat isn’t shared with other users. A family chat is shared with everyone in it, including people who join later.
- To help you, SimplerChat sends your messages, files and related details to AI providers. We don’t use your content to train AI models.
- We don’t sell your information or show ads. If you allow analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics on our public website and articles. It does not run inside the app or receive your chat content.
- You can see and edit what the assistant remembers, delete memories so it stops using them, reset your data in Settings, or email us to delete your account.
Who this policy applies to
Morphologic AI Inc. (“we”, “us”) operates SimplerChat at simplerchat.online (the “Service”), an AI assistant for families with a personal chat for each person and shared family chats. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit the site, sign in, chat with the assistant, use family chats, connect Google services, or contact us.
We are based in British Columbia, Canada, and handle personal information under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
The Service is offered only to people in the United States and Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec. It is not directed to individuals in Quebec, the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland. You must be at least 13 years old to use it; see Children and teens.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account and identity. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile photo and Google account identifier through Firebase Authentication. If you sign in with an email code, we use your email address to send the code through Resend and verify your account through Firebase Authentication. We store protected code records and hashed email and IP identifiers to limit sign-in abuse.
- Chats. The messages you send, the photos (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP) and PDFs you attach, items you share into SimplerChat from other apps, your replies and reactions, and the assistant’s responses. If you use the microphone button, your browser’s own speech recognition turns your speech into text; depending on your browser, the audio may be processed by the browser’s maker. We receive only the text.
- Plans and Library. Calendar events, to-dos, reminders, scheduled tasks, notes, lists, recipes, plans, saved links, files, votes, and the interests you follow.
- Family chats. Each family chat’s name and photo, its members and their roles, invitation records, and what members post, including posts shared to Home.
- Settings. Your choices for location sharing, notifications and quiet hours, time zone, voice and read-aloud, and optional check-ins.
- Support. Information you include when you contact us.
Information the Service creates
- Memories and summaries. The assistant saves facts it learns from your chats, such as preferences and important dates, and writes summaries of older conversation. It also keeps a relationship journal: notes on how you and the assistant interact, such as the tone you prefer and feedback you give, which it uses to adapt how it responds. Each family chat has its own memories, summaries and journal.
- Descriptions and search entries. Short AI-written descriptions of the photos you share, which can describe the people in them, and search entries for your Library, so you can find things later.
- Home content. Daily briefs, suggestions based on the interests you follow, and interests the assistant suggests from your chats, which stay inactive until you accept them.
- Skills. Reusable routines the assistant saves when you ask, or proposes for you to confirm.
- Usage records. Daily counts of your requests, AI usage, web searches, and images and videos generated. Content-free records of family chat events, such as creating a chat or accepting an invitation, including the campaign link that led to a new family chat, if any.
Information from services you connect
- Google Calendar. The connected Google account’s email address and account ID, an encrypted refresh token (a long-lived credential that lets us reach it until you disconnect), the calendars you choose, and where you show each one. Events are read from Google when Calendar or the assistant needs them, and changes to events on calendars you can edit are saved back to Google.
- Gmail. Your Gmail address and an encrypted refresh token. Emails and attachments are read from Gmail only when the assistant uses them in your personal space, as described in Google user data.
- Google Maps. Identifiers of places the assistant shows you, and the choices you make about them. Place details and photos load from Google when you view a place card.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. IP address, request details, timestamps, and browser or device information that our hosting providers and servers process when you use the Service, including in standard logs.
- Optional website analytics. If you choose “Allow analytics,” Google Analytics receives the public pages you view, clicks that open the app, the referring website, browser and device information, and a cookie identifier. Requests to Google also expose your IP address. We do not send account IDs, chat content, form entries, URL queries or URL fragments to Analytics. The Analytics tag is not installed inside the app.
- Time zone. Your time zone and local time, sent with your messages so the assistant handles dates correctly.
- Activity markers. Where you last read each family chat, which other members of that chat can see, and which Home items you’ve seen.
- Devices and notifications. If you turn on notifications: a push token for each browser, and the device name, platform and browser details.
- Location. Only if you turn on Share Location in Settings, which is off by default: your device’s coordinates, sent with each message you send in your personal chat, including Temporary messages. They are included in what the assistant receives from our AI providers, kept with the message’s records, and can appear in our service logs.
How the assistant processes your information
SimplerChat works by sending information to AI models run by other companies. To answer you and run its features, it sends your messages, attachments and relevant saved context, such as memories, summaries, notes, calendar items and email the assistant is using, to the AI providers listed in Providers and subprocessors.
Some of this happens without a direct request:
- After your personal chat conversations, the assistant updates your memories, summaries and relationship journal, and may propose skills for you to confirm.
- In a family chat, the assistant regularly reads new messages to update that chat’s memories, summaries and journal, even when no one tags it.
- Photos shared in chats are described by an AI model so they can be found later.
- For chats that follow interests, the assistant searches the web from time to time and posts suggestions to Home.
- Daily briefs, reminders, scheduled tasks you create, and check-ins run on their own schedule. Check-ins are off unless you, or a family chat’s owner, turn them on.
When the assistant searches the web or opens a web page for you, it uses web search and web fetch tools run by Anthropic. The assistant writes the search terms from your request or, for Home suggestions, check-ins and scheduled tasks, from your interests and chat context.
Temporary mode
In your personal chat you can send a message in Temporary mode. Temporary messages and their replies are not saved to your chat history and are not used for memories or summaries. They are text only, and the assistant can’t take actions in them. The assistant can still read your existing personal context to answer, and the message is processed by our AI providers like any other. A reply may be held in server memory for up to five minutes so it can still reach you if your connection drops.
The assistant works with what you give it. Avoid sending passwords, full payment card or bank account numbers, or government ID numbers. Anything posted in a family chat is visible to its members.
Provider configurations and models can change. The providers’ own terms and privacy practices also apply to their processing.
Personal chats and family chats
- Your personal chat is yours. It isn’t shared with other users, and neither are your personal memories, Library, calendar or settings, unless you choose to share something. Our database rules let only you read your personal data from your browser.
- A family chat is shared with everyone in it. Current members can see its messages, photos and posts, including those sent before they joined, and its calendar, to-dos, Library, votes and memories. Members can add to these shared items and can edit or delete many of them, including the chat’s memories.
- Members see each other. Members see each other’s name, profile photo, role and join date. Current members can also see where each member last read the chat, and whether someone left or was removed. Anyone with an invitation link can see the chat’s name and photo and the name and photo of the person who created the link.
- Owners manage membership. The person who creates a family chat owns it. The owner creates invitation links, can add people who already share another family chat with them, can remove members, and can delete the chat. People added this way join right away, without accepting an invitation, and can see the chat’s history. The owner can’t leave a family chat; they can delete it.
- The assistant in a family chat answers when someone asks it to, for example by tagging it, and uses that chat’s information. At your request it can save something to your personal space or to your other family chats. It can’t read your personal chat, personal memories or email.
- The assistant in your personal chat can read the family chats you belong to, and can post or save items there when you ask, including through tasks you schedule. It is instructed not to share personal details unless you ask; check what it posts. Anything posted to a family chat is visible to its members, so check what you ask it to share.
- Shared calendars. If you show one of your Google calendars in a family chat, its members can see that calendar’s event details, including events marked private in Google, and the assistant can read them when anyone in the chat asks. Only you can edit it through SimplerChat.
- Home posts. A post you share to Home is shared with every family chat you belong to.
- Leaving. When you leave a family chat or are removed from it, you lose access to it. What you shared stays in the chat. Individual family chat messages and Home posts can’t currently be deleted; they are removed when the owner deletes the chat.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide the Service, including personal and family chats, the assistant, memories, calendar, Library, Home and reminders;
- authenticate you and keep your account and connections secure;
- run the AI features you use, through the providers described below;
- send the push notifications you turn on;
- protect the Service through access controls, abuse prevention and troubleshooting;
- understand how the Service is used, through the usage records described above, so we can improve it;
- with your permission, understand which public pages bring visitors to SimplerChat and lead them to open the app;
- provide support and respond to your requests; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Our handling is based on your consent and on what is necessary to provide the Service you request, consistent with PIPEDA and PIPA.
Email and anti-spam
SimplerChat sends a one-time sign-in code to the email address you enter when you request email sign-in. Invitation links are shared by the person who creates them. If we need to contact you about your account, security or a request you made, we will use the email address on your account.
If we send commercial electronic messages, we will do so in accordance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), identify Morphologic AI Inc. as the sender, include a working unsubscribe method where required, and honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.

Our backend runs in the United States (Render, Oregon), and our main database is stored in the United States (Google Cloud Firestore, United States multi-region). Other providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate. Their service-specific terms, data locations and retention practices can differ. We update this list when the production provider set materially changes. More about place cards: About place information.
AI model training
- We do not use your content to train AI models, and SimplerChat has no setting that turns this on.
- Most requests that carry content from your chats through Vercel AI Gateway ask it to use only providers that do not train on prompts, and chat requests are routed to Anthropic. Image generation requests ask for zero data retention instead, through both Vercel AI Gateway and OpenRouter. Vercel states that AI Gateway does not retain prompts or outputs or use them for training.
- Requests to OpenAI for search indexing and search, to ElevenLabs for read-aloud and to Google Maps for places go directly to those providers under their own API terms.
SimplerChat does not train or fine-tune generative AI models. Its AI features use models developed and trained by other companies: Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini and Veo), ByteDance (Seedream), OpenAI (text embeddings) and ElevenLabs (voices). For information about how those models were trained, see their developers’ documentation.
Google user data
SimplerChat’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What we access
- Google sign-in. Your name, email address, profile photo and account identifier, to create and secure your account.
- Google Calendar, only if you connect it. Permission to see your list of calendars (
calendar.calendarlist.readonly) and to see and edit events (calendar.events), plus the Google account’s email address and account ID. We show the calendars you choose where you choose, and save changes you or the assistant make to events on calendars you can edit. - Gmail, only if you connect it. Read-only permission (
gmail.readonly). The assistant can search your email, read messages, and read supported attachments, such as PDFs, images and text files, in your personal space: in your personal chat, in scheduled tasks you create there, and during check-ins if you turn them on. It can’t send, delete or change email, it doesn’t load images or links inside emails, and it doesn’t watch your inbox.
How we use and share it
- Relevant email and calendar content is sent to our AI providers to answer you, and can appear in your personal chat and in the memories, summaries, notes, calendar entries and tasks the assistant creates. Calendar events also help write your daily brief on Home, and notes or memories created from email are indexed for search, as described in Providers and subprocessors.
- The assistant in a family chat can’t access your email. From your personal chat, the assistant is instructed not to share email content in a family chat unless you ask it to. Calendars you choose to show in a family chat are visible to its members.
- We don’t use Google user data for advertising, we don’t sell it, and we don’t use it to train AI models. People at Morphologic AI Inc. don’t read it unless you ask us to (for example, for support), it is needed for security or to comply with the law, or it is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
Disconnecting
You can disconnect Gmail or Google Calendar in Settings → Profile, or remove SimplerChat’s access in your Google Account. Disconnecting deletes the stored, encrypted Google refresh token and, for Google Calendar, your calendar choices. When you disconnect Gmail, we also ask Google to revoke access, unless Google Calendar is still connected, because both use the same Google authorization. Disconnecting Google Calendar does not revoke access at Google; remove it in your Google Account. Chats, memories, notes and plans that contain Google data stay until you delete them or reset your data.
Cross-border processing
Our infrastructure and providers process information outside your province or country, including in the United States. Information stored or processed abroad may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and authorities under the laws of those jurisdictions. This disclosure is provided under PIPA and PIPEDA.
Retention and deletion
- No automatic deletion of your content. We don’t automatically delete your content. Some technical records, such as expired notification tokens and finished background jobs, are cleaned up automatically. Chats, Library items, calendar entries, memories and other data stay stored until you delete them, reset your data, or your account is deleted. Some items, such as time-limited memories and Home suggestions, stop being used or shown when they expire, but their records remain.
- Deleting items. You can delete messages in your personal chat, items in your Library and calendar, and items in Settings such as memories, tasks and skills. Deleting a personal chat message also deletes its attachments and the summary that included it; a record of the deletion, without the message’s content, is kept. Memories, notes or events the assistant created from a message are separate; delete them where they appear. Deleting a message doesn’t delete the reply to it, or the message it answered, and a memory created from a message can include a short quote from it.
- Deleted memories and skills. When you delete a memory or a skill, the assistant stops using it and a memory is removed from search, but the record stays in our database, marked as deleted, until you reset your data or, for a family chat’s memory, until the chat is deleted.
- Scheduled tasks and check-ins. Each run is logged, including a short preview of what the assistant did. These logs stay after you delete the task, until you reset your data.
- Temporary mode. Temporary messages and replies are not saved to your chat history; a reply may be held briefly in server memory, as described in How the assistant processes your information.
- Family chats. What you share in a family chat stays with the chat after you leave, reset your data, or delete your account. The owner can delete a family chat, which deletes its messages, memories, Library, calendar, files and search entries. It doesn’t remove copies elsewhere, such as notes or memories members made from it in their own spaces. Content-free records of the deletion and of the chat’s events are kept.
- Reset account data. Reset Account Data, in Settings → Profile, deletes your personal chat and your private app data: personal memories, summaries and relationship journal, Library items, calendar entries and to-dos, scheduled tasks, skills, interests, Home items, notification devices, settings and uploaded files. It also disconnects Gmail and Google Calendar. It keeps your login, your family chat memberships, and everything shared in family chats.
- Account deletion. Self-serve account deletion is not yet available. Email contact@morphologic.ai to request deletion of your account, including your login. We will delete or de-identify your information unless retention is required by law, needed to resolve a dispute, or necessary for security and fraud prevention. Content you shared in family chats stays with those chats and may still identify you; contact us with questions about retained contributions.
- Security and usage records. Reset deletes your daily usage counts. Family chat event records and the family assistant’s request log are kept. We retain security records and content-free usage records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
Provider copies, backups and server logs may remain for a limited period under provider retention schedules. Deleting a SimplerChat record does not necessarily delete information independently retained by a third-party provider under its own terms.
Your privacy rights
Subject to legal limits, you may ask to access personal information we hold about you, understand how it has been used and disclosed, correct inaccurate information, or withdraw consent for non-essential processing. Withdrawal may prevent us from providing parts of the Service.
You can also manage much of your information yourself: view, edit and delete memories; edit the relationship journal; delete messages and Library items; turn off location sharing, notifications and check-ins; disconnect Google services; and reset your data.
To exercise a right or make a complaint, email contact@morphologic.ai. We may need to verify your identity. A parent or guardian can contact us about their teen’s information. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Security
We use measures including:
- encryption in transit;
- database rules that let only you read your personal data from your browser, and only current members read a family chat’s data, with all changes going through our servers;
- encrypted storage of the tokens that give us access to Gmail and Google Calendar, which are never sent to your browser;
- invitation links that only a chat’s owner can create, stored as hashes and valid for 14 days; and
- signed links for photos and files that expire after seven days. Anyone who has such a link can open the file until it expires, so share links with care.
No transmission or storage method is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA, and provide any other notices required by applicable law. We keep records of security breaches as required by law.
Children and teens
SimplerChat is a family service. You must be at least 13 years old to use it, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian.
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Families can include younger children in their plans, for example by naming them in a calendar event; that information is handled like other content in the chat.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or given us information, contact us at contact@morphologic.ai so we can investigate and delete it where required.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective or last-updated date and, where appropriate, notified through the Service or account email. Continued use after changes take effect means the updated policy applies.
